During the landscape construction of the Southeast Learning Center, Pierre Sprinkler & Landscape built a strong relationship with the landscape architect- a relationship that proved to be instrumental to the project's success. Pierre came into the $30 million project after a previous landscape contractor was unable to get the work done. With most of the main and lateral installation already done by the other contractor, Pierre went into the project blindly and soon found many major adjustments need to be made.
A large portion of Pierre's scheduled time on the project was spent fixing the other contractors mistakes. This left little time to finish installing the landscape throughout the school grounds. However, because of the strong relationship forged between Pierre Sprinkler & Landscape and the architect, Pierre was able to convince the architect and owner to replace hydroseeding with sod to ensure maturity by the school's opening.
Five separate structures among nine acres of land with an Olympic-size pool, basketball courts, soccer and baseball fields comprised the school ground. Pierre Sprinkler & Landscaping installed over 130,000 square feet of sod, over 300 trees, 7,000 shrubs, and enough mulch for 50,000 square feet of planters and 5,000 square feet of decomposed granite. To support the landscaping, 50 remote control valves, 5,500 feet of 3-inch mainline, 17,000 feet of lateral line, 100 rotor heads, 1,150 spray heads, 260 bubblers, two controllers, two rain sensors, a booster pump, two backflows and sensors, two master valves, 55 quick couplers, 10 gate valves and 25 ball valves were installed.
