Situated in Old Town Pasadena, construction to the historical Pasadena Convention Center involved expansion and renovation of current structures. Teaming up with Clark Construction, Pierre Sprinkler & Landscape came in to renovate the Center’s landscape bringing it up to par with its new makeover. The additional work has transformed the Convention Center into the new home of a 3,000 seat auditorium, 26,650 square foot pavilion, 25,000 square foot ballroom, 250 person banquet room, and 28,000 square feet of conference space.
Pierre’s work on the job involved a complete rebuilding of the landscape to accommodate the expansion but retain the historical significance. This included amending over 9,000 square feet of planter area. Eight irrigation zones were installed to support the foliage. Planting consisted mostly of shrubbery and annuals to build color. In total, over 2,000 annuals were planted in the main planter that leads to the Auditorium. Additionally, 2,000 shrubs were planted throughout the grounds among current and new 15” box trees.
Since construction, the Pasadena Civic Center has received several awards. It was honored with a California Construction Best of 2009 Award as well as a Historical Preservation Award. The site is also LEED Certified.
